Our Story
It all began in 2015 on a cold winter night in Chicago…
How We Met
Young’s Version ❤︎
At the time, I was living about an hour outside of Chicago. One freezing Friday night, I planned to meet up with old college friends in the city. Even though one friend bailed because of the cold (classic Chicago), I decided to make the drive anyway.
After a few drinks at my friend's apartment, we headed to the one and only, Soundbar. Once we got there, we saw the line wrapping around the block. We were dressed in our little cropped faux leather jackets, so there was no way we were going to wait in that line. With a little liquid courage, we somehow convinced the bouncer to let us join the much shorter VIP line instead.
That's where I met Justin.
He was with his friends standing in front of us in line and standing the closest to me. All of a sudden he warned me about a puddle. We started making small talk, and then soon we were inside the club. He was cute but I also just got here with my friend. When we got inside, I told Justin, “we’re going to go to the bathroom!” - not knowing if i’ll ever see him again.
But after some gossips and selfies in the bathroom, we came out and Justin was standing there waiting with a drink in his hand.
Honestly... I couldn't say no to a free drink.
And the rest was history. ☺︎
I was 23, fresh out of college, and working in downtown Chicago. It was just another Friday night, which meant, of course, meeting up with the boys and doing irresponsible things with our newfound paychecks. That night, we decided to hit the club. We were headed to Soundbar, a notorious Chicago hotspot for 20-somethings that we happened to obtain the “password” for that night.
I remember waiting in line in the dark alleyway, hands buried deep in my jeans, shrinking into my puffer, eager to get inside away from the icy wind. My friends were chatting ahead of me, as I hung back. I was tired and not feeling super talkative.
Then I saw her. She was stunning. Then, as it happened, Young got in line behind me with her girlfriend in tow. All of a sudden, I felt hot and extremely nervous. I knew I had to say something, but I didn’t know what. “Hey, watch out for that puddle!” I blurted out as I gestured toward the closest puddle I could spot. Of all the puddles to be wary of, this was not one of them. It was more of a wet spot, and it was not really in her way.
“Oh… thanks!” she said. I could tell she was just being polite. Somehow, we kept talking anyway. Thank god for that puddle.

Chicago to San Francisco
What followed were years of love shaped by distance, timing, and growing into new versions of themselves. Between Chicago and San Francisco, their relationship unfolded through late-night flights, endless FaceTimes, difficult goodbyes, and a connection that never fully let go. After two and a half years together, they parted ways in 2018, believing their story had come to an end.
Time & Distance
Over the next three years, they built separate lives and grew individually, yet somehow never stopped thinking about one another. No matter how much time passed or how different their lives became, there was always something that continued to pull them back together.
Where We Were Always Meant to Be
When life eventually brought them back to one another, it felt less like starting over and more like finding their way home. What began as a chance encounter outside a crowded Chicago nightclub ultimately led us here - celebrating the beginning of forever in Sicily, surrounded by the people we love most.
